2015 China Tourism Science Annual Conference held in Beijing

With the strong support of all sectors of society, the 2015 China Tourism Science Annual Conference was held grandly at the Tangla Hotel in Beijing from April 26 to 27. Du Jiang, deputy director of the National Tourism Administration, attended the annual conference and delivered a speech. This annual conference was themed "Tourism Entrepreneurship Innovation Development and Discipline Platform Construction" and was hosted by the China Tourism Academy, co-organized by Ctrip.com and HNA Travel, and supported by Sohu Travel Channel. More than 200 people attended the conference, including responsible comrades from relevant departments and directly affiliated units of the National Tourism Administration, representatives of co-organizers of the annual conference, representatives of media organizations, and experts and scholars from tourism academia and industry from all over the country.

Du Jiang pointed out in his speech that the role of science and technology as the primary productive force in today's world is becoming increasingly prominent. Doing a good job in tourism scientific research is to enhance the productivity of tourism development. The tourism academic community should consciously take on the responsibility of building a contemporary tourism development theory system and provide theoretical and talent support for national development and tourism prosperity. In addition, theoretical research should go deeper into industrial practice, especially to pay attention to and study the basic issues and major practical issues that affect the development of the tourism industry.

Du Jiang emphasized that every action and every measure in the "515 Strategy" is creating conditions for entrepreneurship and innovation. Mass entrepreneurship and innovation is a new engine for China's economic development; the ever-changing tourism entrepreneurship and innovation projects and teams are important driving forces for industrial development and should be included in the field of academic research. He hopes that the guests can make full use of this opportunity to have some exchanges of ideas and collisions of views, so as to make this annual meeting more effective.

Bai Haibo, Chairman and CEO of HNA Hotels Group, and Tang Lan, Senior Vice President of Ctrip Travel Network, then delivered speeches at the annual meeting respectively.

The results of the National Tourism Administration's scientific research projects in 2015 and the list of the National Tourism Administration's Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards in 2014 were announced at the meeting, and Deputy Director Du Jiang presented awards to the winners.

Afterwards, Zhang Lingyun, Vice Dean of the School of Tourism at Beijing Union University, delivered a keynote speech entitled "The Golden Decade: Progress and Prospects of Chinese Tourism Academic Research - Based on the Perspective of Internationalization and Informatization".

During the keynote speech session on the afternoon of the 26th, Luo Jun, founder of Tujia.com, Liu Feng, founder of Beijing Dianfeng Intelligence Group, Song Rui, director of the Tourism Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Zuo Bing, associate professor of the School of Tourism at Sun Yat-sen University, respectively gave special speeches on "Internet + Industry Integration", "Tourism Illuminates a New Era of Entrepreneurship", "Tourism Innovation: Industry Evolution and Academic Outlook" and "Academic Consciousness and Knowledge Innovation: Individual Perspective".

On the morning of April 26, representatives from 25 tourism research institutions from all over the country gathered in Beijing and jointly initiated the establishment of the China Tourism Research Institutions Alliance. At the meeting, Song Ziqian, director of the Policy Institute of the China Tourism Research Institute, read out the "Beijing Consensus of the China Tourism Research Institutions Alliance". The representatives said that tourism has now been fully integrated into the daily lives of the people and all aspects of the country's economic and social development. Tourism research institutions should consciously assume the important responsibility of providing intellectual support for the sound and rapid development of the tourism industry, further clarify their own positioning, improve the level of construction, and strengthen exchanges and cooperation with each other. Actively serve the overall development of national tourism, let more citizens share higher quality tourism services, jointly build the brand of the China Tourism Research Institutions Alliance, and share research resources.

On the morning of April 27, Zheng Xiangmin, director of the Tourism Safety Research Base of the China Tourism Research Institute, hosted the "Mass Entrepreneurship and New Business Form Development" sub-forum. Xu Hong, vice dean of the School of Tourism and Service Engineering of Nankai University, and Zhang Jinhe, director of the Department of Land Resources and Tourism of Nanjing University, gave special speeches on "Mass Entrepreneurship and New Business Form Development" and "Internet + Engine of Mass Entrepreneurship". Professor Hu Jing, Vice Dean Xu Hong, Director Zhang Jinhe of the School of Urban and Environmental Sciences of Central China Normal University, and Zou Yongwen, dean of the School of Tourism and Urban Management of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, conducted in-depth discussions on the theme.

Chen Wenjie, President of the Tourism Industry Research Institute of China Travel Service (Hong Kong) Group, hosted the sub-forum on "Innovation of Market Players and Evolution of Industrial Structure". Li Wen, COO of Ctrip Community Business Unit, and Ding Yu, Vice President of Yijian Technology Co., Ltd., delivered keynote speeches on the topics of "Co-building Tourism Information Service Desk" and "Promoting Innovation and Upgrading of Tourism Industry with Informatization". Chen Canrong, President of China Kaiyuan Tourism Group, Li Wen, COO, Ding Yu, Vice President, and Yang Jinsong, Associate Researcher of the International Institute of China Tourism Research Institute, conducted in-depth discussions on the theme.

On the afternoon of the 26th, Zhang Wenjian, professor of the School of Tourism of Shanghai Normal University, chaired the sub-forum "Academic Review of Tourism Entrepreneurship and Innovation". Wu Liyun, associate researcher of the tourism entrepreneurship and innovation research group of the China Tourism Academy, and Li Bin, the research group of the China Tourism Entrepreneurs Association of Beijing International Studies University, respectively, discussed "Mass Tourism Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Internet+ Era" and "Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Tourism and Hotel Enterprises: Research Progress and Research Directions” gave a keynote speech. Zhang Lingyun, deputy dean of the School of Tourism Management of Beijing Union University, Qin Yu, director of the Hotel Management Department of Beijing International Studies University, Zhao Yang, founder and COO of China Youpu Travel Network, Shi Heng, founder and CEO of Huanyou Travel Network, and Tourism Research Institute Yang Honghao, associate researcher at the Institute of Industry, and others conducted in-depth discussions around the theme.

On the afternoon of the 27th, an award ceremony for China's tourism innovative figures was also held. Dai Bin, President of the China Tourism Research Institute, awarded the "Tourism Thinker" award to Dr. Liang Jianzhang, co-founder, chairman and CEO of Ctrip.com, and the Ctrip entrepreneurial team, commending them for being Outstanding contributions to the development of China's tourism industry. Tang Lan, senior vice president of Ctrip, accepted the award on behalf of Liang Jianzhang.

Finally, Dean Dai Bin presented the Outstanding Paper Award to the winners of the 2015 China Tourism Science Annual Conference, and made a concluding speech with the theme of "Believe". He said that after the reform and opening up, social value orientations have become increasingly diversified, providing fertile soil for entrepreneurship and innovation. Academic colleagues need to work with entrepreneurs, strengthen interaction with industrial practices, provide guidance for tourism industry practices, and lead industrial development. He believes that China, with a 5,000-year history of civilization, will surely give birth to great entrepreneurs who have an impact on the world's tourism industry and contribute to human commercial civilization. Against the backdrop of the continuous opening of the political and economic environment, people from both the industry and academia, as long as they have ideals, responsibilities, and perseverance, will surely be able to push the primary stage of mass tourism to a more advanced stage.
