Recently, the National Tourism Administration organized experts and scholars from institutions such as the China Tourism Research Institute, the Institute of Statistical Science of the National Bureau of Statistics, the Labor Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the Tourism Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to conduct a special study on tourism employment, especially the employment driven by "double innovation", based on sampling surveys, enterprise surveys, and modeling calculations. 1、 The overall situation of tourism employment in China in 2015 was about 27.98 million direct tourism employees, with a total of about 79.11 million direct and indirect tourism employees. The comprehensive contribution rate to national employment was 10.21%. It is expected that the total number of direct employment in tourism in China in 2016 will be about 28.2 million, and the total number of direct and indirect employment in tourism will be about 79.74 million, with a comprehensive contribution rate of 10.25% to national employment. 2、 Employment in the core tourism industry - travel agency industry. There are over 340000 employees in 27000 travel agencies nationwide. The number of certified tour guides nationwide is 850000—— Tourism and accommodation industry. There are 1.362 million employees in star rated hotels. Two million "rural homestays" have employed a total of six million people—— Tourist attractions. There are 1.229 million employees in A-level tourist attractions nationwide. 3、 Entrepreneurship and innovation drive employment. Tourism entrepreneurship and innovation drive direct employment of about 3.3945 million people, accounting for 12.13% of the country's tourism direct employment; The total number of direct and indirect tourism employment is about 9.523 million, accounting for 12.04% of the national tourism comprehensive employment. (1) There are a total of 42658 homestays and guesthouses in China with nearly 900000 employees in the new accommodation industry. The number of economy hotel stores in China exceeds 17000, with a total of 200000 employees. The total number of jobs created by non-standard accommodation based on the sharing economy model is about 6400. (2) The total number of employees in leading online travel companies such as Ctrip, Tongcheng Travel, Qunar.com, Tuniu Travel, and Lvmama is about 63000. Based on a comprehensive calculation of 60 national and regional tourism e-commerce platforms, there are approximately 120000 online tourism professionals in China. (3) Theme parks and resorts such as Shanghai Disneyland, Huaqiang Fantawild, Guangdong Chimelong, as well as about 70 domestic ocean parks and aquariums, have employed about 180000 people. With an estimated 70% market share, theme parks and resort tourism areas across the country have directly employed about 250000 people. (4) Online tourism and transportation companies
The number of direct jobs created by mobile travel platforms across the country is approximately 15.9856 million. Based on the 12% proportion of tourist consumption, tourism mobile travel creates approximately 1.918 million jobs.
