Tourism statistics report for the first half of 2017

1. Domestic tourism growth rate exceeded expectations According to the results of the domestic tourism sampling survey, in the first half of 2017, the number of domestic tourists reached 2.537 billion, an increase of 13.5% over the same period last year. Among them, urban residents reached 1.757 billion, an increase of 15.8%; rural residents reached 780 million, an increase of 8.5%. Domestic tourism revenue reached 2.17 trillion yuan, an increase of 15.8%. Among them, urban residents spent 1.71 trillion yuan, an increase of 16.1%; rural residents spent 0.46 trillion yuan, an increase of 14.8%. 2. Inbound tourism grew steadily In the first half of 2017, the number of inbound tourists reached 69.5 million, an increase of 2.4% over the same period last year, of which foreigners reached 14.25 million, an increase of 5.8%. International tourism revenue reached 60.1 billion US dollars, an increase of 4.3% over the same period last year. 3. Outbound tourism grew steadily In the first half of 2017, the number of Chinese citizens traveling abroad reached 62.03 million, an increase of 5.1% over the same period last year.
