On October 10, 2012, the China Tourism Academy 2012 Third Quarter Academic Achievements Conference was held in Beijing, hosted by the China Tourism Academy and co-organized by the People's Daily Tourism Channel. Professor Dai Bin, President of the China Tourism Academy, Professor Zhang Guangrui, Director of the Tourism Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Shen Yumin, Deputy Director of the Tourism Commission of Yanqing County, Beijing, Sun Changwei, Director of the Beijing Tourism Business Department of Ctrip.com, and Chen Ting, a global traveler, travel writer and photographer, attended the conference. Representatives from media organizations such as People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, China National Radio, Travel Satellite TV, China Tourism News, Economic Daily, China Tourism Network, Sohu.com, Sina.com, Tourism Journal, Travel Agency Magazine, and China Economic Weekly also attended the conference. First, President Dai Bin delivered a keynote speech on the current operation of the tourism economy and the development trend of the tourism economy in the future. He pointed out that the tourism economy operated well in the first three quarters, and tourism consumption maintained a growth of 13.1% compared with previous years. The total number of tourists received reached a record 2.348 billion, and the total tourism revenue reached 1.92 trillion yuan, an increase of 15.3% year-on-year. In the third quarter, national tourist satisfaction exceeded 80 points for the first time this year, reaching a "satisfactory" level.
He said that at present, the measures to develop tourism and public services in various places have made great progress. From the perspective of the fundamentals of tourism economic operation, whether in terms of demand, supply, tourist satisfaction or policy, it is pleasing. Residents agree with the enthusiasm for developing tourism. However, there are also some worrying aspects in tourism development: the degree of national participation needs to be further improved; there are still problems such as excessively high ticket prices for scenic spots and insufficient public services; investment direction and investment structure also need to be further optimized, etc. In the coming period, the biggest difficulty is the development of the inbound tourism market. Based on the expectation of stable development of the national economy and society and the enthusiasm of various places to develop tourism, he is still full of confidence in the situation throughout the year, and believes that the tourism economic goals for the whole year, including satisfaction indicators and the improvement of leisure quality, are expected to be generally achieved.
Subsequently, Associate Researcher Li Zhongguang, director of the Institute's Industry Institute, released an analysis of tourism economic operations in the first three quarters of 2012 and a full-year trend forecast report. The report believes that despite the downward pressure on the tourism development environment in the first three quarters of 2012, the overall tourism economy has maintained a stable and rapid development momentum. The situation for the whole year remains "cautiously optimistic" and the overall indicators for the year can be achieved. The "two highs and one leveling" situation in the three major domestic, inbound and outbound markets will become a foregone conclusion, and the trade deficit will further expand. It is estimated that the total number of tourists received throughout the year will be about 3.13 billion, and the total tourism revenue will be 2.6 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.8% and 16.6% respectively. Dr. Chen Xu of the Institute of Industry and Commerce released the results of the National Tourist Satisfaction Survey Report for the third quarter of 2012. He believed that the national tourist satisfaction level increased steadily in the third quarter. It exceeded 80 points for the first time this year and was at the "satisfactory" level. Scenic area services, tourism prices, etc. are still the focus of tourists' concerns. Since the beginning of this year, the satisfaction of inbound tourists has fluctuated greatly and the proportion of complaints has continued to rise. This should also be highly concerned. Dr. Tang Xiaoyun from the Institute of Policy Studies released "China Tourism Review 2012", which is the second collection of proceedings of the China Tourism Science Annual Conference after "China Tourism Review 2011". It consists of three parts and is about 150,000 words. The first part is the "high-end forum"; the second part is the research theory; the third part is the status of tourism scientific research projects. Different from general conference proceedings, "China Tourism Review" has three distinct characteristics: first, the theme of the proceedings is prominent; second, the content is closely related to industrial development practice; third, the selected papers have been strictly screened.
