Recently, the Ancient Town Tourism Development Alliance (Preparatory) was established and its first meeting was held in Jiaxing, Zhejiang. Dai Bin, President of the China Tourism Research Institute, Chen Xianghong, Vice President of the China Tourism Association, Chairman of Dingdu Group Co., Ltd., and founder of Wuzhen Tourism, and Zhou Jing, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Jiaxing Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism, attended the meeting. Representatives of ancient towns from all over the country gathered in Jiaxing to discuss the Ancient Town Tourism Development Alliance (Preparatory). The meeting discussed and voted to pass the "Rules of Procedure for the Ancient Town Tourism Development Alliance (Preparatory)". This is the first time that the Ancient Town Tourism Development Alliance has been established at the national level. It has built a joint development mechanism and an interactive communication platform to build a consensus on the prosperity and development of ancient town tourism and create a big brand for the high-quality development of ancient town tourism. It is of great significance to promote the expansion and strengthening of ancient town tourism.

At the meeting, President Dai Bin gave guidance for the follow-up work of the Ancient Town Tourism Development Alliance from the aspects of development concept, action program, and phased goals. He hoped that the representatives of each ancient town would unite and cooperate under the guidance of common concepts, with interests as the link, and pragmatically establish a long-term and stable cooperation mechanism for the China Ancient Town Tourism Alliance. President Dai Bin also put forward work suggestions on the current transformation and upgrading of ancient town tourism and high-quality development from the perspectives of ancient and new, citizens and tourists, science and technology and humanities, government and market. Finally, President Dai Bin said that the China Tourism Research Institute will work hand in hand with the Ancient Town Tourism Development Alliance to give full play to the role of the "Ancient Town Tourism Observation Station" and provide practical basis and professional support for the construction of a large distribution system for ancient town tourism.

The China Tourism Academy and the Jiaxing Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism started multi-dimensional cooperation in June 2023, and have achieved a series of special results in the fields of ancient town tourism, etc., and established the "China Tourism Academy Ancient Town Tourism Observation Station (Jiaxing)" for long-term follow-up research.
