On December 2, 2024, the "11th China-Korea Tourism Cooperation Seminar" co-organized by the China Tourism Academy and the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute was held in Beijing. The theme of this seminar was "Technology Creation in Tourism Development". The meeting was chaired by Tang Xiaoyun, Vice President of the China Tourism Academy.
In the theoretical discussion session, Dr. Ma Yiliang, Chief Statistician of our institute, and Lee Sung-bin, Researcher of the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, respectively shared their research entitled "Technical Definition and Big Data Labeling of Usual Environment" and "Directions for the Development of the Statistical Framework for Sustainable Tourism Measurement (SF-MST)". Dai Huihui, Assistant Researcher of the Institute of Statistics and Survey of our institute, and Han Xizhen, Associate Researcher of the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, respectively shared their theoretical research entitled "Intelligent Prediction of Urban Passenger Flow Based on Big Data" and "Application and Prospect of Future Sunrise Technologies in the Tourism Industry".
In the practice sharing session, Zhu Qian, Party Secretary and Director of Yantai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, elaborated on three aspects: the tourism exchange and cooperation between Yantai and South Korea, the application of science and technology in the development of tourism in Yantai, and the prospect of digital tourism cooperation between China and South Korea in the future. Tian Hongman, Deputy Director of Zhangjiajie Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports, introduced that the smart tourism platform put into use in Zhangjiajie has provided better and more convenient services for tourists and government departments. Liu Feng, a representative of tourism enterprises and Vice President of China Travel Information Mobile Technology Co., Ltd., represented Air Travel and demonstrated the convenience brought by Air Travel to passengers from several aspects such as consumer Internet and scenario-based e-commerce services at travel destinations. Sun Chao, head of commercialization of AutoNavi Cloud Map, represented AutoNavi Map and demonstrated the refined services of cultural tourism enabled by AutoNavi's core data capabilities and related technical cases such as AutoNavi AI and AutoNavi spatiotemporal model scenic spots, further enriching the discussion content of the seminar.
Kim Se-won, director of the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, concluded, "China is the largest tourist market for inbound tourism to South Korea during the period from January to September 2024. Currently, both China and South Korea are paying close attention to the development of science and technology and making large-scale investments. The seminar on the theme of 'Science and Technology Innovation and Its Impact on Tourism Development' is of great practical significance to both China and South Korea."
In his final concluding remarks, President Dai Bin pointed out that this seminar was the first China-ROK exchange and cooperation seminar held in China after the smooth transition of epidemic prevention and control, and the research teams and working teams of the two countries have made great efforts for this. He also made several suggestions for this. First, the future China-ROK cultural and tourism cooperation should focus on the long-term, especially in policy research, it is necessary to strengthen the cooperation between the two governments and academic institutions. Secondly, the scope of participating entities should be further expanded to promote the active participation of local governments and tourism enterprises of the two countries. Finally, President Dai Bin emphasized that he hoped that through this seminar, our institute would be able to carry out closer cooperation with the Korea Culture and Tourism Research Institute in the fields of policy research, data analysis and theoretical innovation. The two sides will continue to maintain close communication in the future to promote China-ROK cultural and tourism cooperation to a new level.
The meeting was attended by Lu Yongdian, Director of the Business Planning Division of the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, Lee Won-hee, Director of the Tourism Research Division, An Xizi, Director of the Tourism Policy Research Office, and Dr. Heo Eun-jin, Associate Researcher, Dr. Li Longhui of the International Research Institute (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Institute) of the China Tourism Academy, Liu Xin and Xue Shiyi from the International Exchange and Finance Department.
