At the invitation of the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities of Uganda and with the approval of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Dai Bin, President of the China Tourism Academy, led a delegation to Kampala to attend the China-Uganda Tourism and Culture Forum from January 20 to 25, 2025. Tom Butimme, Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities of Uganda, Oliver Voneka, Ambassador of Uganda to China, and Zhang Lizhong, Ambassador of China to Uganda, delivered speeches respectively.
Dai Bin delivered a keynote speech entitled "Uganda's Example of Cultivating China-Africa Tourism Cooperation". Tourism plays an increasingly important role in the strategic process of China-Africa cultural exchanges and economic and trade cooperation, and will play a more active role in the revitalization of the "Global South" that rises for development and thrives for development. With the joint efforts of the diplomatic, cultural, tourism, civil aviation, commerce and other departments and industries of China and Uganda, Uganda is expected to become an important destination for Chinese outbound tourism and a model case for China-Africa tourism exchanges and cooperation. It is recommended that China and Uganda should further increase tourism publicity and policy coordination, improve visa, customs clearance, payment convenience and service quality, promote exchanges and cooperation between investment institutions, market entities, market research and tourism education and research institutions, and jointly promote the sustainable growth and high-quality development of China-Uganda tourism.
