According to the requirements of the "Several Opinions of the State Council on Promoting the Reform and Development of the Tourism Industry" (Guofa [2014] No. 31) document to "improve the tourism statistical indicator system and survey methods, establish a scientific tourism development assessment and evaluation system", the compilation of the "2014 China Tourism Statistics Bulletin" has improved the existing problems in the original tourism statistics, revised the "international tourism revenue" and related data such as "total tourism revenue", "number of overnight stays of foreign inbound tourists", "average daily expenses per capita", and added data such as "comprehensive contribution of the tourism industry to GDP", "outbound tourism expenses", tourism employment and its proportion in the total employment population of the country ". The relevant revisions and new data explanations are as follows: 1. Regarding international tourism revenue. According to the principle of equivalence between the caliber of the "Tourism Statistical Survey System" and the caliber of inbound and outbound statistics, the expenses of inbound tourists with a stay time of 3-12 months and short-term travel expenses of tourists in China (excluding pure tourism) have been supplemented and improved. Based on relevant surveys, the length of stay and per capita daily expenses of foreign inbound overnight tourists have been revised, and the "international tourism revenue" has been revised from the original 56.913 billion US dollars to 105.38 billion US dollars. Regarding the cost of outbound tourism. According to the International Balance of Payments Manual (6th edition), the tourism service trade expenditure announced by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange is actually the total outbound expenditure of Chinese citizens. When calculating China's "outbound tourism expenses", according to the "2008 International Tourism Statistics Recommendations" of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, various expenses such as goods and services purchased by overseas migrant workers at the destination (excluding tourism expenses) and goods and services purchased by Chinese students and their families overseas should be deducted from the "outbound expenses", resulting in an outbound tourism expenditure of 89.64 billion US dollars in 2014. Regarding the total tourism revenue. According to the revised data, an additional 48.467 billion US dollars of "international tourism revenue" will be included in the "total tourism revenue", and the "total tourism revenue" will be revised from the original 3.38 trillion yuan to 3.73 trillion yuan. 4. Regarding the comprehensive contribution of the tourism industry to GDP. According to the "2008 Tourism Subsidiary Account: Recommended Methodological Framework" by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, based on existing sample survey data of international and domestic tourists, combined with input-output method, the comprehensive contribution of the national tourism industry to GDP in 2014 has been calculated. 5. Regarding tourism employment data. Based on the assumption of identity, that is, the proportion of products and services sold to tourists in a specific tourism industry is equal to the proportion of tourism employment among the employees in that industry, the calculation has added data on direct and indirect employment in the national tourism industry in 2014. 6. Comparison of historical contemporaneous data. Due to the adjustment of the calculation method and statistical caliber of international tourism revenue in 2014, the data cannot be traced back and is not comparable. The bulletin does not calculate or express the year-on-year values of "international tourism revenue", "total tourism revenue" and other data.
