Dai Bin | Smart Tourism Must Adhere to the Principle of Utilizing Technology for the Benefit of Society and People-centered Approach

On the occasion of the 2026 National Two Sessions, Dai Bin, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the director of the China Tourism Academy, was interviewed by Guangming Network. He stated that currently, artificial intelligence is profoundly influencing the development of the tourism industry. It can not only provide real-time information services to tourists like a tour guide, but also offer immersive experiences that blend reality and virtuality through technologies such as AR and VR. This is an inevitable trend in the development of the tourism industry. Dai Bin also said that smart tourism based on artificial intelligence must adhere to the principle of making technology beneficial and people-oriented, helping people have a better travel experience and life.

Artificial intelligence is objectively changing our production and lifestyle in a comprehensive way, including the way we travel. In the past, we would look at mountains, water, and scenery. Today, we need to appreciate culture and experience the achievements brought about by technology. This is an inevitable trend that makes traveling more convenient. As we walk, we might take a photo and tell it that this is a certain building. The sound in our ears immediately comes out, introducing this building or a certain scene to us, like a tour guide, providing us with all kinds of knowledge and helping us have a deeper experience of a city. Isn't this a good thing? But I hope that the future intelligent tourism, which integrates artificial intelligence and tourism, will be people-oriented intelligent tourism. That is, technology should be for the good. The knowledge you give me and the content you let me experience should be scientific and helpful for people to cultivate their minds and emotions. You cannot do evil. Intelligent tourism must be people-oriented tourism. Intelligent tourism should help people have a better travel experience.
