Recently, the first blue book on China's tourism economy - "Analysis of China's Tourism Economic Operation in 2008 and Development Forecast in 2009" compiled by the China Tourism Academy was officially published by China Tourism Publishing House.
This book was formed on the basis of the research results of the special project "Analysis and Development Forecast of China's Tourism Economic Operation in 2008-2009" of the National Tourism Administration. It is the first book in China that focuses on the research of the overall operation of the national tourism economy. The outstanding features of this book are that it serves the national macro-decision-making, is based on a large number of first-hand investigations and empirical studies, and strengthens the development forecast and guidance functions. The book is divided into seven chapters, which scientifically analyze and systematically sort out the major hot issues affecting the overall development of China's tourism economy, such as the overall operation of China's tourism economy in 2008 and the development forecast in 2009, the characteristics and trends of tourism demand, the development status and forecast of tourism enterprises, the operation pattern and trends of regional tourism economy, the current situation and prospects of tourism development in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, China's tourism industry from a global perspective, and major events and public services, and put forward targeted policy recommendations based on the research results.
The year 2008 marks the 30th anniversary of China's reform and opening up, and is an extraordinary year in the process of economic and social development. For China's tourism industry, which has grown up with reform and opening up, 2008 encountered some difficulties, but generally achieved sustained development. Looking forward to 2009, my country's tourism economic development faces both challenges and opportunities. On the one hand, the international financial crisis is still accelerating and spreading, and its impact on my country's economic development is becoming more obvious; on the other hand, my country still has a solid foundation and favorable conditions for maintaining stable and rapid economic and social development, and the central government's strategic policy of maintaining growth, expanding domestic demand, and adjusting the structure is also being steadily implemented. With the development of the economy and society, tourism has increasingly become an important part of people's lives. At present, the per capita domestic tourism consumption of urban residents has accounted for more than 9% of consumer expenditures, and the per capita domestic tourism consumption of rural residents is also close to 7% of consumer expenditures. Promoting tourism consumption has become an important aspect of national economic and social development. This book was published at the beginning of the new year. While summarizing the operation of the tourism economy in 2008, it also made a scientific analysis and forecast of the development situation of the tourism economy in 2009. It is of great significance in guiding and promoting the tourism industry to face up to difficulties, strengthen confidence, respond positively, strive to achieve the recovery and improvement of my country's tourism economy, and make new contributions to maintaining a steady and rapid growth of the national economy.
