China has listed several Italian entities, including Rome Airport, as certified tourism service providers for Chinese travellers. "Welcome China", a certification system for overseas travel services, is designed to help Chinese tourists enjoy travel abroad.

Chinese TV programs, Unionpay card service and a typical Chinese breakfast. Travelers from China can now enjoy those services in Italy. At a press conference, China announced the certification of several Italian business institutions.

The certification system was set and issued by the Tourism Research Center of China’s National Tourism Administration.

"After receiving certification, the companies can learn more about the demands of Chinese travellers, provide better services and improve traveller satisfaction. They can also obtain relevant training about how to provide services to Chinese travellers. And they can expand their market promotion." said Dai Bin, Director, Tourism Research Center.

The "Welcome China" certificate is divided into three categories. The entry-level certification for hotels requires that they have Chinese TV channels and Chinese magazines. The top level of certification requires that the institution be able to provide services in Mandarin, Chinese breakfasts and special discounts for Unionpay cardholders.

"So far, 150 hotels have been certified. About 600 companies are in the process of being certified. We have not only certified hotels, airports and railway stations, but are expanding the scope of the certifications into car-rental firms and museums." said Jacopo Setoli, CEO, Select Holding.

In 2013, the number of outbound tourists from China reached 98 million, up 18 percent year-on-year. And this year, forecasts predict more than 100 million tourists. China has become the largest outbound tourist market and largest outbound tourism consumption country.
