Living in Health and Wellness, Enjoying the Seaside——A Series of Activities on Building a Tourism Destination in Northeast Asia Held in Yingkou, Liaoning

On July 30, the “Travel and Health Care, Happy Seaside—A Series of Activities for the Construction of Northeast Asian Tourism Destination” co-organized by the China Tourism Academy and the Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and hosted by the Yingkou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism and Radio and Television was held in Yingkou City, Liaoning Province.

The event was themed "A Better Life, Shared by Hosts and Guests". Through keynote speeches, experience sharing, exchange of results, local practices, guest dialogues, expert lectures, etc., it aimed to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on tourism work and the spirit of the National Tourism Development Conference, actively build an interactive platform for coastal city development, effectively explore new models for coastal vacation and travel and health care development, and help Liaoning Province build a Northeast Asian tourism destination. More than 150 people from the cultural and tourism systems and tourism enterprises in various cities and cities in Liaoning Province and media reporters participated in the event.

The event was hosted by Zou Jizhi, Party Secretary and Director of Yingkou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism and Radio and Television. Wu Jie, Member of the Standing Committee of Yingkou Municipal Party Committee and Minister of Propaganda Department, Tang Xiaoyun, Vice President of China Tourism Research Institute, and Sun Haoshu, Party Member and Deputy Director of Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, delivered speeches.

In his speech, Tang Xiaoyun, Vice President of our institute, pointed out that holding this event not only has strategic considerations on how to use tourism to help revitalize the Northeast in the new era, but also reflects on the new direction of tourism development and the new pattern of industrial development in the future. It is also an important exploration of Liaoning's construction of Northeast Asian tourist destinations and the promotion of innovative development of atypical tourist destinations. It is of great significance. Coastal tourism is the core of marine tourism development. The tourism development of coastal cities should break away from the traditional "3S" model and expand in the direction of coastal vacations and travel and health care. The China Tourism Research Institute has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and has established Northeast Asian tourist destination observation stations in five cities including Shenyang and Dalian. In the future, the China Research Institute will give full play to its advantages in theoretical research and industrial practice resources, and through cooperation between the institute and the local area, strengthen multi-dimensional exchanges in data, personnel, activities, etc., to promote the high-quality development of Liaoning's tourism industry.

Wei Shixin, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Haikou Municipal Tourism, Culture, Radio, Film and Television and Sports Bureau, and Xu Hongwei, Deputy Inspector of the Qingdao Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau, shared their development experiences on the topics of "Gathering new advantages of the Coconut City's coastal area to expand the new health and wellness tourism industry" and "Qingdao's coastal vacation and travel health and wellness development practices" respectively.

In the results exchange session, Dr. Wu Fenglin, Director of the Planning and Leisure Institute of our institute, released the research report "Coastal Tourism: China's Strategy and Yingkou Practice". Dr. Liu Anle and Dr. Jiang Naiyuan released the research reports "China's Travel Market Demand Survey Report" and "Liaoning Path to High-Quality Development of Travel Destinations" on behalf of the research team.

In the subsequent local practice sharing session, Qi Haocong, deputy director of the Comprehensive Planning Institute of Dalian Land and Space Planning and Design Co., Ltd., introduced the "Sea Tour Liaoning" project. Zhang Wenting, director of the Cultural Tourism Planning Institute of Shanghai Tongyan Architectural Planning and Design Co., Ltd., promoted the "Coastal Self-Driving Service System Support Project". Xie Linxuan of Yingkou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism and Radio and Television promoted the "Bohai Rim High-Quality Cultural and Sports Tourism Destination" strategy. Professor Li Xinjian of Beijing International Studies University, Sun Dapeng, President of Xi'an Jinshangtianhua Cultural Tourism Group Co., Ltd., Dr. Huang Huang of the Planning and Leisure Research Institute of our institute, Zhang Jinshan, Researcher of the Tourism Planning and Development Research Institute of the School of Tourism of Beijing Union University, Liang Chunmei, Vice Dean of the School of Business Administration of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, and Dr. Guo Na of the Planning and Leisure Institute of our institute were the comment guests and gave wonderful comments on the above projects.

Dr. Wu Fenglin from our school, as the host, together with Professor Li Xinjian, Associate Professor Liang Chunmei, Researcher Zhang Jinshan, Director Wang Huijun, Chairman Sun Yongmei and President Sun Dapeng, presented a wonderful guest dialogue to the participants.

In the afternoon, Liu Jiaming, researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Liu Jia, professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Management, Ocean University of China, and Huang Huang, associate researcher, doctoral student and postdoctoral co-supervisor at the China Tourism Research Institute, gave special lectures for the event.
